What is Godís will?

Introduction: This Bible study is going to cover and answer the following questions: What is Godís will for His people? How do you know if you are in Godís will? Why should we stay in Godís will? The concept of submitting to Godís will always shows up in a Christianís walk at some point or another, therefore it is important for us to know what Godís will for us is.

What is Godís will for us?

The English word ďwillĒ was taken from the Greek word ďThelaymahĒ

Definition:

1) what one wishes or has determined shall be done
1a) of the purpose of God to bless mankind through Christ
1b) of what God wishes to be done by us
1b1) commands, precepts
2) will, choice, inclination, desire, pleasure

We can see, that based on the definition of will, what is meant by ďGodís Will.Ē It is what God wants us to be doing, which includes His commandments and our obedience to them.

Conclusion: Being in the will of God requires us to take up our crosses and follow Jesus (Luke 9:23) by listening to His voice and obeying His commandments. Listening to God means that we need to read the Bible and be more than hearers of His word, but to be doers (Romans 2:13, James 1:22). Listening to God will also assist us in maintaining our position in Godís will. How will we know if we have taken a wrong step if we stop listening to God? We also need to be in constant prayer and constant meditation on what God wants and requires of us. Matthew 7:24 is where Jesus sums up the will of God. We are to be doing what we are taught!
